First of all, let’s just be clear on a couple of things: a real content curation site is NOT about scraping RSS, or stealing other people’s articles. It’s about providing quality information to your niche audience. It’s a place where they will come to first for a roundup of the most relevant information in your area of expertise.

With smart content curation you can grow your blog and social media audience in just 13 minutes a day. Check out these simple steps to get you started:

10 minutes, every morning

Review your Google Reader list. (which you have already set up and selected what feeds you are interested in)  If a headline looks interesting, read the story

If you think your audience will find it useful, select the most important part of the story (no more than 40%) and paste it into your curator application, whichever you are using. Please remember to always credit the source and respect the work of the original author. Some curator software makes this real easy, for example PageOneCurator.
Now add an interesting introduction to the story. Where possible, insert an image or video to add interest to your post.To finish off, add a comment of your own in the form of an opinion, analysis or entertainment value. Now post your curated story to your blog, and social media accounts.

Total time: 10 minutes, tops.

The side benefit: You stay informed and might even learn something new.

3 minutes every afternoon

Go to your blog and social media profiles and review how your post has done. Take a minute to respond to any comments or tweets about your post. On Twitter you can retweet the same post at different times of the day to catch followers in different time zones.

One thing to keep in mind: Twitter is a place folks seem to expect a fairly steady stream of posts. 10-15 tweets per day is commonplace. On Facebook and LinkedIn, there is usually a steep decline in response after 2-3 posts.
